NEW YORK Proclamation On Mrs. Nina
Peropoulos
Mrs. Peropoulos is active with the Pan-Macedonian Association Inc. USA
since 1990. She was born in Servia – Kozani and she had her primary
education in Greece. She came to the USA for further education. She is
specializing in Behavioral Sciences and she presently is working as a
consultant to a private special treatment school for troubled adolescents.
She has served as District Governor of the Southwestern States for seven
years; and, as Supreme Vice President for two years. In 2000 she was the
first woman to be elected Supreme President and served for three consecutive
years having been re-elected unanimously for each annual term. Many members
within the Organization as well as leaders of other major Hellenic
Organizations were urging her to serve for a 4th term. With her initiative
and effort, six new Pan-Macedonian Association Chapters were established
including in Houston, Texas; New Orleans, Louisiana; San Antonio, Texas;
Jackson, Mississippi; Atlanta, Georgia; and Las Vegas, Nevada.
She is a member of the Executive Board of S.A.K. (SYNDESMOS APODIMON Nomou
KOZANIS) Western Macedonia. She served as Board Member of the Hellenic
Professional Society of Texas for six consecutive years.
She is a member of the Institute for International Education in Houston –
her initiative and effort led to Greece being selected as featured Country
for the 19th Annual IIE Festival of Nations, and she was honored by the
Consulate General of Greece in 1995 in Houston.
She was a Board member and she was the first Philoptochos President of St
Basil the Great Greek Orthodox Church in Houston. She is a member of the
American Hellenic Institute (AHI) and the Hellenic American National
Congress (HANC); member of the Houston Symphony Chorus.
She is certified by the Texas Department of Health as program Director for
Medical and Nursing Assistants Competency Evaluation and Training Program
and she is a counselor and instructor at River Oaks Academy in Houston in
special education and behavioral sciences.
She was one of the thirty-three Greek women in USA who were honored by World
Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) and the SAE Women’s Network with the
Honorary and Historic Award “KALLIKRATEION AWARD” for their “tireless and
continuous efforts to preserve Hellenism and perpetuate our Hellenic values
and Heritage”. She was honored by the OMIROS College (Greek Language and
Culture School) in Melbourne, Australia for her contribution to our National
Issue and her contribution to APODIMO ELLINISMO”, in 1999.
She was honored by the Macedonian Association of Houston, the Pan-Macedonian
Association of Ontario Canada, and the Macedonian Association of Clearwater
Florida.
She was also honored jointly by the “ΕΥΞΕΙΝΟΣ ΛΕΣΧΗ”, The Society of Pontian
Women and the Pontian Association of Macedonia in Thessaloniki in 2002.
Finally, she was honored by, “The Association of Northern Greeks of Messinia
– Greece”, in Kalamata in 2002.
Mrs. Peropoulos recently returned with a delegation from a mission to
Australia to publicize and promote the upcoming new film of “Alexander The
Great”, the only film that supports, protects and defends the dignity of the
true History of our great hero, “Alexander The Great”. She is also joining
with the same delegation to Greece in early December 2003 and later in Sao
Paulo, Brazil, to publicize and promote the same film.
In October 2002 she visited Alexandria Egypt as a representative of all
Pan-Macedonian organizations worldwide and participated in the inaugural
ceremonies of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, October 16. She is a member of
the society; Friends of Bibliotheca Alexandrina, with whom she continues to
correspond. She coordinated efforts and later met with the Executive
Secretary, Laila Dowidar and the Executive Director, Ismail Jerageldin to
whom she presented a generous contribution from the Pan-Macedonian
Association USA. Through these contacts she was able to intervene when The
FYROM attempted to place false history books in the Bibliotheca (Library)
Alexandrina or present artifacts from the Macedonian Dynasty as being of
Slavic origin.
She was honored at the 58th National Convention May 28-30, 2004 with the
proclamation linked above.
